In this episode, your host welcomes business bestie Tara Paton - a marketing strategy queen who works with beauty and wellness entrepreneurs to increase revenue, build customer traffic, and expand their product line.
Launching a business in the middle of the pandemic, Tara reveals the trauma and emotions of breaking away from corporate America. Listen in as Kimberly and Tara discuss how to recover from corporate PTSD, shed the corporate mindset, and learn to do what feels good rather than what we've been told to do.
KEY POINTS:
QUOTABLES:
“When you're in corporate, you're going, going, going, and you're nonstop, and everything is getting from point A to B as fast as you possibly can. You're not really checking in with you as a person.”
“A lot of the traumas that are put upon us or that we experience are put upon us because of the rigidity of the structure of what is corporate America. And so you go into entrepreneurship, and you think that you have to do the same things. And you actually don't.”

Kimberly’s content is billed as being for women and people of color. As a white male, I feel that her content is universally applicable. As a person that benefited from privilege I appreciate having access to this point of view. I feel that being able to get an understanding of these topics from her perspective helps me better approach these topics with my employees.I hope she keeps producing new episodes and publishing books.
I really enjoy this podcast! I love how encouraging the message is but also REAL advice even if it may be unsettling to hear! This podcast gets me excited and empowered to take actionable steps in my career!
I just listened to Episode 22, Being an Ambitious Woman with Tiffany Aliche and was so impressed. The time just flew by as I enjoyed the solid career advice Kimberly and Tiffany shared. Documenting your accomplishments was one of the ideas that I thought was especially good -- because if YOU don't know what you accomplished and what your big wins are, you cannot possibly expect others to remember. I look forward to tuning in again.
I love the messages and positive energy of this podcast. I want to use the tips in my daily life. I listened to “Mixtape Confidence” episode and it was very insightful on how personal life and work are a balance that we need to focus on. Also , i love the reference to the movie “Girls Trip”. The actress Tiffany Haddish has a very inspiring story . Hopefully one day she will be a guest on the podcast
