And God said, "Love your enemy" and I obeyed him and loved myself.
Part 2, is all about self-love as we close on the rest of Ismael Browns amazing book, "My Own Worst Enemy: A Black Mans American Story."
We discuss my two FAVORITE parts of his book. A long letter addressed to his father where he apologizes for not asking for love and an entire chapter on his role as a womanizer.
Not pointing the finger outward and instead pointing it inward is where Ismael decided to make his biggest changes, even with the ones who hurt him the most. Ismael even explains how finding happiness sometimes is just shifting the pain.
For my ladies, this womanizer chapter is telling on all men. Ismael and I discuss culture and how it has damaged relationships but what women can do while right now when faced with these situations.
Ismael embraces all his insecurities in this final episode and we both ask if your listening that you do the same, we need to all own that having insecurities are NORMAL and it doesn't mean you cant love yourself.
If you've dealt with a womanizer and are wondering why or searching for your happiness, Ismael gives you the blueprint in this episode.
**If you know anyone dealing with or contemplating suicide please refer them to this episode as we both make a plea that you talk to someone because being stuck in a toxic frame of mind was real for Ismael as he attempted suicide once before.**
Your a very inspiring person with a heart of gold! Your podcasts are phenomenal.
I was recommended to listen to this podcast by a friend and I was very pleased I sure will be listening again!!!
This episode with Reign was on point. Her honest story about moving forward on her dreams after so many tries was super inspiring. Jessica always does a great job pulling out the best stories from people.
I appreciate Jessica’s authenticity. I just started listening to her podcast and follow her on IG. I don’t have friends that are like minded that I feel I can talk to or seek advice, so listening is so refreshing. I like how she shares her own experiences and the advice that she’s learning along the way. I’m excited to where your journey takes her. I will definitely going back to listen to her previous podcasts.
